The 2021 surgical curriculum re-focuses training on building surgical capabilities to the level of day-one consultant practice. Trainees will be assessed using the new Multiple Consultant Report, encompassing Generic Professional Capabilities and Capabilities in Practice.

The ISCP hosts the UK curriculum framework for 9 dental surgical specialties on behalf of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS), the professional body committed to enabling dental surgeons to achieve and maintain excellence in practice and patient care.

The ISCP hosts the Surgical Advanced Clinical Practitioners (SACP) curriculum. SACPs enhance capacity and capability within MPTs, supporting existing established roles and new ways of working. They contribute to clinical continuity and provide patient focused safe, accessible and high-quality care.

The generic professional capabilities of surgeons play a significant role in patient safety and the ISCP currently provides links to two free online courses that encourage the development of non-technical professional behaviours.
